Race Day Details:
Parking: Carpooling is highly encouraged. Please plan to arrive early to avoid delays in traffic. Cars will enter Hartwood Acres from the Middle Road entrance (4100 Middle Road, Allison Park, PA 15101). Access to the Hartwood parking will be closed off at 8:30 to allow for a prompt start to the race. All cars parking in the designated 5K Hartwood lots/field must remain in the lots/field until all participants have completed the race (around 10:30)
Inclement Weather Policy: Participant and spectator safety is first and foremost with race officials and Girls on the Run-Magee. The Girls on the Run 5k will occur rain or shine. We will closely monitor weather conditions for race day. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to evaluate the situation and use their judgment regarding the weather.
The event will occur rain or shine, however, below are precautions if there is a risk of severe or inclement weather:
1) If there is a threat and/or there is lightning in the area at 9:00 on race morning the race will be delayed until 9:30 to allow the threat to pass. A second delay will be issued if these conditions remain at 9:30.
2) Should the conditions remain a threat (lightning still in the area) at 10:00 the GOTR 5k will be cancelled. No refunds will be issued due to weather situations.
3) Should lightning occur while participants are on the course, they should seek cover along the course or check with a course marshal for instructions. Once the situation has passed participants should return directly to the race start/finish area.
4.) Spectators and participants in the start/finish area should seek shelter in their vehicles.
Girls on the Run needs many volunteers both on race day, as well as prior to the 5K weekend. Volunteers are needed to help in areas such as packet stuffing, set-up, water stations, raffle and more!
